The story of the Seminato goes back to the ancient times. The Greeks and the Romans already knew the terrazzo or battuto technique: a mixture of lime and coccio pesto (ground terra cotta) with pieces of different stones which was beaten and than levigated [Vitruvium,I.century B.C..]

The Republic of Venice ("La Serenissima", XV. and XVI. centuries) signed the main fortune of the Seminato alla Veneziana, since the venetian workers also used chips of marble, quartz, granite and glass to give the surface a brilliant and polish look.

Nowadays, the Seminato alla Veneziana is living a reflourishing period, thanks to the ambition and resolution of some italian craftsmen, which have spread the beauty, the elegance and the versatility of this art all over the world.
